Family Law
Family Law is an area of increasing complexity and this work is handled by Leiza Vaughan. Leiza has more than 10 years experience as a Family Law Solicitor. Leiza is trained in Collaborative Law & Practice and is a member and committee member of Consensus - Collaboration Scotland (formerly known as the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group), a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Practitioners and a member of the Family Law Association.
Leiza can provide advice with regards to all Family Law issues including separation, divorce, adoption, parental rights and responsibilities, children's rights and cohabitants' rights.
We appreciate that such matters can be very emotional and distressing and we can advise you fully on the issues and the best course of action available to you. The law in this area is constantly evolving and we would strongly recommend that you arrange an appointment to discuss your particular circumstances. Our aim is to provide appropriate legal advice whilst focusing on the future well being of our clients and any children of their family.
We recognise that a court is not necessarily the best forum for resolving Family disputes. There are various other methods of dispute resolution, ranging from traditional correspondence based negotiations, through round table meetings and mediation to Collaborative Practice. (For more information on these methods of dispute resolution please follow the appropriate link.) However, we can, and will, provide you with robust representation in any court action which it may be necessary to raise on your behalf or in which you become involved.
This is an area where we may be able to apply for Civil Legal Aid or Legal Advice & Assistance on your behalf. This can assist you with the costs in such matters and we can fully explain to you the implication of applying for and receiving such assistance.
